How about the glyph off the barrel from out of the barrel well. I know its not very Viking but its easy to reproduce ;D

Outside a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read!

Chas - If we did that there would be a plank on both sides of my T-shirt (inside and outside)
C'mon then Ness ideas.... Can anybody do a picture of Ness in a leather apron making an axe?

I think I would prefer the comb, out of the three. The bead's too complex/coloured to put into one of the drawings, and the buckle, though it would probably translate into one of the drawings easier, isn't immediately recognisable to a dig outsider...
There's always the wooden bowl too.

Or, going back to the whole 'associated buildings' theme - a reconstruction of the viking house?? You can't get more viking than that, Ness!

could go with a viking longboat (due to reused timbers in the house)... and do like the comb adn the strap end would look good.

oops, maybe i shoulda left off the sunglasses, and done a beard instead? or am i fallin too much for the viking stereotype? i'm fairly sure viking women didn't have beards, but i could be mistaken...

and finally... if u make some decent photos available of some of the viking stuff that has come from hungate, i'll do some decent line drawings for u to look at, to see if anything's suitable for a t-shirt. not all of my drawings are as wobbly as the ones above! honest!
