yeah i think we should just have the one image too. problem is, i haven't seen anything that would really work on its own. if there's more viking material available for drawing, then let's see it.
i did have another idea... what if our slogan was "the vikings are returning"? that way, we could easily do an image of something lovely found at coppergate, cos we're assuming that the hungate vikings are part of the same settlement.
on the t-shirt i'd like something violent and horrid, of course, eg nasty weapons or viking helmets (minus the horns!). i think that gets people more interested than beads, ceramics, and other domestic bits n bobs.

How about something from the York Archaeolgical Trust picture Arhive they have quite a range of Viking finds as you'd imagine...and at least they're from York (i think)

Here's a few images...obv the helmet isnt from York but its pretty and quite cool looking i think. Obviously the embossed detail would probably be 2 difficult for a t-shirt tho. The 2 brooches were both found at Coppergate so still in York lol and they are cool although again the one with the circular design might be a bit hard to tackle...see what you think tho

ok so with much work and image searching i have come up with an idea....no the things havent been found on Hungate (yet lol) but I think the design is quite cool and not so complicated but will catch attention...let me know what u guys think.
The helmet btw is based on the one in the Jorvik centre...so at least based on York lol and all the things are Viking looking (i think) ;D x

it looks cool, if our re-enactment friend can draw then lets see it ;D Personally i think this one would be good, very viking (looking!) and funky for us to wear too

katie - i think your design is great!
okay, so it has to be done with authentic stuff (don't wanna upset the re-enactors), but i think it would work really well! i still think the logo should be "the vikings are returning" so we can legitimately make the link with coppergate.
at last, we're getting somewhere with this t-shirt thing!

I think the vikings are returning is a better slogan as well. I based the helmet on the one in the jorvik centre so they cant really complain about that and on closer inspection my friend said the sword and axe arent that innacurate that we cudnt get away with it....i mean i pulled them off a viking website lol
What does everyone else think about the design? Toby?
;D

We can't do a slogan... never have and should not start now

It should also be something that has come from the site, otherwise we don't have the link with what work we have been doing.
