Just wanted to post a quick message to saya massive THANKS to everyone who has made this summer so enjoyable. 12 weeks of Toby's jokes could have been hard to bear otherwise... Big thanks to Toby, Elena and Ian for all their help and dedication And I'm not going to even try name everyone else, since there have been so many really great people over the whole 12 weeks. But you know who you are - even if I didn't get a chance to say goodbye and wish you all the best. Hope to see many of you at a reunion, whenever that may be... Rick

I would say "motion forthed" but that could seem a little silly. However, having said that, I can't actually think of any other way of expressing the same gratitude... ...unless "I agree" is applicable...? Luiseach - I think you may have started a trend... (Sorry your name isn't written correctly - I couldn't work out how to get the i with an accent on it)

Just to add another voice to the chorus, thanks for making the dig a memorable, educational, and enjoyable experience, with the social side as good as the archaeology. As well as Toby, Elena, and Ian (goes without saying) three cheers for the placements (the unsung heroes of the trenches!!?), and those who turned out week after week to tell us about pottery, conservation, finds, etc. Finally (this is beginning to sound like an Oscar speech) futher thanks to Toby for his work as barbeque meister.

Crikey ! (Steve Irwin RIP) I hope you all didn't feel too much like caged zoo exhibits ! As far as I am aware none of my visitors threw any bananas or buns or poked anyone with a stick ! I felt like I was stuck in some sort of weird groundhog day loop at times, especially during the 5 weeks of school groups. Seriously though, I'd like to thank everyone for being so patient and helpful during my site tours. I had a brilliant summer so a huge thanks to all the people on site who put up with my visits and helped show/explain stuff to people and generally made it all good fun ! PS. If anyone would like to own a lovely bright orange DIG staff polo shirt, I have a couple going spare........

Still trying to rid yourself of those orange polo shirts, hey Pam? Unfortunately I am unable to help as I feel I would just look like a big...em... orange. Yep, that's it!
I'd just like to add to all the comments made and thank everyone for their patience and willingness to muck in when it came to the Finds tent. I think we all managed to learn at fair bit. I know I did. This year's site has provided us with, yet again, some superb archaeology - so thanks to those who worked in Trench 6: bone and antler work galore! You made it for me!
It's been a good summer. Hope to see as many as possible at the Reunion, if not in Nov/Dec then for the VIKING FESTIVAL at the end of FEB 2007(no excuses accepted).

Just adding my name to the grateful throng - it was a great 4 weeks (seemed more like 4 days, it flew by so fast) and once again I felt that I was just beginning to get the hang of things when I found it was all over.
Looking forward to knowing quite what conclusions were drawn about the site (and also St Mary's). Any chance of you running an follow-up / update weekend sometime to pull it all together for the trainees? I'd really love that!
So thanks again to Toby and Ian and Elena and 'my' placements- Fee and Clive and Ness, and everyone else who made it such fun.
Till the next time! Gill

I like Gills idea of an update event as well.

Never being one to miss a bandwagon, I would also like to add my thanks to all concerned.
The evening tour was a highlight for me and it's great that Toby and Ian did it in their own time and that it finished at the front door of a good pub!
Keith - Thanks very much for the lift to and from the bbq, that was very kind.
