A new thread for plans to be put on... the last was getting a little confusing.
What we need is for people to say what days they are about and what they intend to do.
So......
Friday - I am at work until roughly beer o'clock and then can be anywhere that people want (no rude suggestions of where to go etc.).
Saturday - During the day I will have the usual errands to sort out (have to be nagged at etc). I cannot remember if there is a good footy match on so that may alter plans. For the evening I will be out for whatever time people are around.
If you do not have my telephone numbers just log in, send me a PM and I will reply with the details.

[[glow=red,2,300]font=Verdana]For my perfect night I would like to meet in Ye Olde Starre Inne for food and for beer go on to the Wonkey Donkey (three legged mare)Will anyone meet me there. Please say yes now or forever hold your peace.Ged[/font][/glow]
Sounds good to me, Ged. All we need now is a time to meet up. The food is really good there too. And the Wonkey? That goes with saying. Seriously good pint of Guinness.
I'll be in York by lunchtime (Ged, if you are around, let's go harass some Vikings!). I have a lecture at 7.30 so will meet up with everyone at the Wonkey afterwards. I guess it will be around 9pm - ish. How much Guinness can I drink in 2-3hours? Hmm... No smart comments. That means you too, Toby! 'Whaaaat?'
Looking forward to it Vx

I agree about the need for some clarification. Is the Starre Inne / Wonkey Donkey plan for both days? or just for Saturday, and meet in the Minster on Friday (as I think Toby suggested a while ago) for beer o'clock, moving to somewhere to eat, not too late? Who's in charge?

I personally like the Minster for Saturday; it's closer than most pubs to where I'm staying therefore a shorter stumble to bed. But I'm equally happy to go along with whatever general plan is worked out - it's not like the Wonky Donkey is much further away!!
Have fun planning and arguing amongst yourselves and Ben and I will see you on the Saturday.
Take care, Fee

Nobody is in charge, that is why it is like herding cats.
Remember to put what day you want to do stuff as well as what it is.
Ness is the lecture on Friday/Saturday?
What day do people get here?

I will be arriving on Friday afternoon ready for the evening's eating and drinking. I would like to join with in any group going to festival things on Saturday if possible, especially if people know what's 'not to be missed' - perhaps to include a lunch time get together? Saturday night - as Friday. Going home Sunday, time depending on what state I'm in after Saturday activities (may take in more festival first). I'm really looking forward to this!

I hope to be there at around 730 friday-just had a fantastic surprise (literally seconds ago) which may make me slightly later than my original five. Meet anywhere really.Meal in the Olde Starre Inne sounds good then go on to any pub-wonkey donkey maybe. It is best that a few come and join the many in one pub rather than the whole team going to a pub where a few are holed up-if you get my drift.Any suggestions any ideas?Ged

Cross posting here in case nobody is reading the old thread now. Alan (Sandford) and I will arrive circa 5pm on Friday and are staying at the Uni. I think I remember the olde starre from 2004 but not sure, can anyone give directions, and please remember I am a poor misguided southerner and don't remember all the street names. I do remember the Internet Cafe and all the Starbies though! Can't wait to see you all, Clive (the civvy one).

Hey Clive,
The Old Starre Inn is on Stonegate. If the internet cafe you mention is the Evil Eye then they're on the same street and the pub is literally just down from Evil Eye. Stonegate is just off the junction of Low and High Petergate near York Minster (Starbucks on the corner I'm sure), or the other end is off a square with Crabtree end Evelyn on the corner (can't for the life of me remember the name of the square though). I hope that I've not made you even more confused and that you find your way to the Old Starre on Friday.
I'll see peeps on Saturday. Where are we meeting for that??
Take care y'all, Fee

May I suggest that the priviledged few who will be around early on Friday meet at the Minster (on Marygate, nearly opposite the entrance to last year's dig) at about 5 o'clock, then move on to the Olde Starre after a couple of hours to meet the 7.30 arrivals, eat, then on again to Wonky Donkey. Saturday will depend on what people are likely to be going to festival-wise. I think the Viking wedding is at 7.30, which rather overlaps with beer time to my way of thinking (but then I have reservations about weddings). Perhaps we can follow the same plan as Friday, starting at the Minster again at 5pm. Does anyone want to meet up somewhere for lunch? Only 4 more days! Gill
