How about Mrs L Hungate holding a bone in her mouth Don't you think she may have something to say about that? She may think you're trying to imply something...

Sorry haven't checked the forum for a while
I must say i think the traditional t shirts are just fine. A simple line drawing of the place we are digging.
Toby i think i speak on the behalf of others as well that the t shirts are an inspiration to us all every year!

At St Mary's we had the Tower, at St Saviour's the Church itself. Problem with Hungate is that there are no (historic or aesthetically pleasing) buildings left !! Hungate itself is just a strip of modern tarmac next to Block H.
Some of you saw the remains of the cobbled Haver Lane during the St Nick's weekend. I think it would be nice to try and incorporate that somehow..... although Toby reckons the fully cobbled street would be difficult for the transfer process at the printers, so it would have to be simplified somewhat. I can't draw but someone else could have a go if a photo of said street was supplied....

What about the Black Swan which I think is the nearest historic(ish) building to the site, and is reasonably picturesque. Additionally many people will have happy memories of spending beer-o'clock there .

I vote Rick's!! Though the dog does look a little sad and doesn't look remotely V****g! However, I have to put a vote in for my mate Harry too! Paul, you are a sick man! Em, you should know about things like that (lol)! I don't care, do what you like! As long as it looks good in BLACK!

As long as it looks good in BLACK! Motion seconded. Ness - maybe you would prefer it if the dog happened to find some gritty ware rather than a bone? Although that does lose the whole dog/bone thing... Elaborating on Keith's idea, what about a dog at the Black Swan at beer-o'clock? I would presume that most would agree that beer-o'clock is as historic and as aesthetically pleasing as any of the other images that have previously been on the T-shirts... ;D

I'd like something based on Rick's design too. Any chance of there being a red option for this one, ie no red writing? (go on, Ness, you could carry it off - red would really suit you. Students are supposed to break out and go wild ) G

Gill - I got a red hoodie done last year and where there were red letters I have black and it looks fine. Zik Zak are quite flexible - you can ask for a different combination of colours or arrangement of logos and they are usually happy set it up the way you want for you 'special' garment requirements ! Having said that I think some of you are getting rather carried away - dogs, bones, pubs and clocks - all on one T shirt ?? ! It is supposed to be a simple line drawing that can be easily made into a transfer that doesn't take 3 hours to cut and stick on ! ;D

Seems like a dog is the vogue, but what about something a tad more contemporary to where we'll be. Suggestion only, but maybe a medieval type dog would be more fitting to include in a design. /Penmanship not a scratch on Rick's //Sorry - penpersonship... ///Feel free to shoot me down or offer other direction.

I think the third one is excellent!! And, to boot, there's a touch of 'Harry' about him!
A Medieval theme is always good!
PS. Just 'heard' that the Vikings were 'aceramic'. Holy Je*us! Will be around for a bag of non-strat v****g p*****y from you, Toby.

3rd one definitely the best
I can see a touch of Cerberus about it, don't you think?
...except, of course, for the other two heads...
Medieval dog also neat for the whole being-given-the-scraps-from-a-meal thing (ie being given the rubbish to chew through, including bones, which is basically what archaeology is...)

3rd one is definitely my fave.... if it was eating somebody elses food it would look even more like Harry. It may be that we have a mixture of several designs at this rate.
aceramic - did they mean ace! ceramic? (they actually were in parts of the country) I won't infuriate Ness by telling her about the huge bit of decorated rim that I found the other day then... it was just like the one they have a reproduction of in DIG.

Yes, I know! But that's no excuse! That said, where's me pot?? Not even a lousy picture! I really hate when you mention this stuff, you know! And you do it deliberately! Talk about something else exciting that you've found. Leave the v****g stuff out. If you don't, the consequences may be dire and it will be your fault! I'll be down there in the middle of the night with my flashlight. You keep forgetting, I don't live in Cambridge any more - only 5 min walk to site (well 10 actually, with my short legs). Oooop! d**n! Foiled my own plan I say No 3 for the t-shirt! (nice one, Paul! )
