Hello everyone! I'm a 22 year old male from the United States who is enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. Ever since I was a young boy I always dreamed of being an archeologist and 'discovering the past'. Well I was wondering if any of you had some advice for someone in my position, such as what to major in college? What fields of study are essential and which are not? Are there things such as Math or Science that you use more regularly than others? Anything would be a great help and much appreciated. Thanks for your time and god bless!

Archaeology is regarded as a good generalist degree, as it requires an understanding of a wide range of topics. It can be used to get into many careers, not only archaeology.
Similarly there is no one topic that is essential to take at college if wish to read archaeology at uni. History, classics and geography are as good as any. Personally, I don't think it does any harm to follow the topics that interest you.
However if you are thinking of pursuing a career in archaeological science you probably would need to take one or more of the sciences; the relevant universities should be able to advise on this.

I back up what Kurt has written. If you have a good idea of what you want to do with it afterwards, even better where you want to do it, you should be able to refine the subjects that you follow.
It could be best to go there and see where it takes you once you have done some study.
I went to the university that seemed to want me to go there the most (and they let me in....). I didn't really know what I was going to do in the long run, just took courses that interested me. The industrial placement year was very useful in giving me a better idea of what I wanted....... and things have just moved on from there.
Good luck
