So after much fretting and running around we have got stuff sorted.
We pursued the Minster stuff further and it turned out that we would have to hold on until just before the dig to find out if it would be possible. Obviously this is not what we would want to do, nor would it be fair on the most important people, the trainees.
I apologise for the change in plans, it truly was an unexpected external event which caused it. I hope that nobody feels that we have let them down regarding not being able to excavate on that site.
The St. Saviour's site has turned out to be the most appealing alternative. We have sorted out permission from the City Archaeologist and the current owners for the excavation. All that is required being is a final exchange of paperwork (underway as am writing this).
If you want to know more about the site please look at the webpages

We will add more information when it is available.
I am sure that you will agree that the St Saviour’s site is a very exciting alternative which offers some incredible archaeology to be discovered.
So we are going to go ahead with the St Saviour's site. Everything will be the same as before, dates/days/courses etc... Just a location shift. The team at DIG are really excited about the prospect of having the site next door and we have already had a meeting about how we will be able to share facilities. Because of access to resources we will be able to do more than originally planned with the previous site, as you may find out if you are there in the summer.
Again, personal apologies for any disruption that the change will have caused people and also the wait for final confirmation of what was going on.
Cheers,
Toby
