I was thinking the same thing ! More updates required ! And I'm not even on the team this year !
I was helping Kurt dig up Roman skellies last week but we worked til 5.30 so I didn't get chance to drop by St Mary's. Last time I was there was during Mel's second week so that's a while back now. I am digging with Time Team near Harrogate next week, so I don't think I will be in York for another week or so, but after that Juliet and Clive will be up so I am likely be over there for some socialising - I promise I will post any updates I get either first or second hand ! !

Me and mat went over on Thursday.
The trenches are getting deeper and the spoil heaps getting bigger. Lots of post holes have come and gone, lots of bits of pottery - the medieval glaze-ware pieces are getting bigger and the roman getting rarer. They've even found a couple of bit of viking pot.
Rick has got the up dates for the last few weeks but the web team don't seem to have the time to put them on.
Hope the weathers good in France fee, got a pic of your wall to send you when i get my e-mail sorted.
Phill

Hello all. How's it going? Fee, what's the digging like in France? Mel- looking at the updates seems like there are some big holes to fall into, and the cricket has been very interesting. What are you up to?

The reason all of us are so quiet is that we are so busy digging that there is little time for going on-line to report the progress.I for one am sooo knackered now that I have no energy to keep up witheveryone on the outside. My day off (saturday) is spent either sleeping or just having some down time-Poor me! When the dig ends-three weks to go now, rest assured I will be moithering everyone again about this that and the other.I have a feeling that the last barbeque will be quiet something and of course everyone is invited to that.It could be bouncy castles and a live band( phil collins is available as is Bowie-but that will have to be finalised-joking) it should go out with a big bang.Just three more ghost hunts and Toby walks to go now so see you all at the reunion in december.Ged

Come of it Ged. You'll have people thinking you've actually been in a trench, and we know thats not true!! But just for the record, Ged did buy a round at the end of week 3, it's not just folklore - it happened!! Phill

Hey Caroline. I'll email when I get the chance but for just a quick update...France is rather hot!! As much as I love my mattocking I don't much like having sweat dripping off my nose while doing it Can't wait to get back to York in just over a week. I want more familiar faces around me, and also some me time (sharing a room is not nice for 3 weeks). Hope your kids camp went well. And Phill, when did Ged buy a round?!?! How did I manage to miss this momentous occasion Hope all's well with everyone on and off site and I look forward to 'Pam spotting' on Time Team. fee xx

It was a momentous occasion! Saturdat night at the end of week three, after a hot sunny day in the beer garden Ged went to bar and came back with a tray of drinks. He wasn't in tears or anything, we all savored the drink and knew we were the choosen ones..

Hey,about this round thing-it is something I am not proud of, it was a moment of madness that's all-like when I signed up to do the whole twelve weeks on site. And guess what-I am darn sure that someone took a picture of the round buying incident-so if that person would like to come forward I promise never to say the "A word "again-you know what I'm saying Big Dave. The infamous quotes sheet is now on its fifth page and Scott has taken a good digital photo of them all so they may well be available at the reunion. If you are coming to the end of dig barbie,do you have any ideas for a fitting way to celebrate what has been(up to now) a fantastic excavation.I may even buy another round-god forbid.Cheers to all my sponsors(Neal etc)

Fee! I can't believe we were so stupid not to meet up in France.. you could have had your own room and everything! I saw Ged buy a round, i don't think it was a group hallucination.. He was escorted to the bar.. just in case... I do feel very privileged to have been there.. Are we being rather hard on Ged? I think he might have actually bought me a couple of drinks... Keep the updates coming..(isn't Richard a star!).. somehow they make being away from site a little more bearable! Can't wait to see everyone in the last week! x ellen x
