After finally sorting ourselves out (paperwork, holidays, general tidy up/clear out) after what was a very hectic (but fun) summer training excavation, we can now offer previous Archaeology Live ! trainees and placements the chance to be involved on the Hungate project ‘out of season’, as volunteers on Area H and at HQ.
The professional project staff will not be able to provide close supervision or any training so volunteer involvement will generally be limited to basics tasks such as cleaning over/around features, mattocking, barrowing, reading levels, sieving, weeding, finds washing, etc.
If you are interested in being an ‘Archaeology Live! Volunteer’, either on an occasional or regular and ongoing basis, please contact the Dig Hungate Volunteer Co-ordinator, Pam White, at the usual training dig email address -
trainingdig@yorkarchaeology.co.uk
Please note if you do want formal training ‘out of season’ we have the One to One Mentoring courses available. Contact Pam at the above email address for more information.
