We have been training a team of 10 Bradford University undergraduates on site over the last three weeks. The team has worked really hard, made some good progress on site and picked up a lot of new skills in a short amount of time. Here are a few comments from the team themselves.

Susie - Having never actually been on a site before (despite 2 years of A-level and 1 year of undergraduate archaeology!), I was a bit apprehensive about how difficult working on site would be. However, I've loved every minute and learnt loads about how to excavate.

Heather - The past three weeks *did not* consist of a whip, leather hat or the name 'Indiana Jones'. Instead, they consisted of industrial vest, hardhat and a trowel. Regardless, it was a fun time, and involved a lot of digging. A great experience, and I hope that I come back again for placement!

Andrew - After being on the site last year as part of Archaeology Live and enjoying it, I chose to do my 3 week placement here. I have enjoyed the past few weeks and have found that even though I've been before , there is still a lot to learn.

Hope - Before coming on the dig I had no concept of identifying different contexts, through working on the oven I have a much better understanding and feel more confident in my troweling.

Kimberley - After a year of theory at university I was excited at the thought of being on site, despite being very nervous! However in the three weeks my troweling has improved loads and I've throughly enjoyed myself!!

Paddy - It's been a pretty gnarly 3 weeks with a nice blend of digging and stuff. Definitely come a fair way since I started and stuff with all the new experiences and learning and stuff. All in all I'd say it's been a RIPPING GOOD TIME!

Luke - A great three weeks working on such an archaeologically rich site. Endless opportunities to learn with abundant and complex stratigraphy, and working with supervisors who have the ability to break it down and make it all seem do-able.
