A little creative writing in this article makes it look like a degree is available in Archaeology from the OU. But unfortunatly it is only 10 point subject that can be taken as part of a humanities degree.
But it is good to see that the OU is finally seeing the need for a distance learning coarse for archaeology.

That's not quite true. It is part of a new suite of qualifications including A251 World Archaeology (30 points at level 2) and A180 Heritage Whose Heritage. As SA188 is a science based course it can be used as part of the certificate in contemporary science or any OU degree. A new level 2 heritage course comes on line next year (2009) and in the future there should be an archaeology degree along the lines of Humanities with archaeology and heritage studies. These courses have come about after a lot of campaigning by Don Henson at the CBA and OU students including myself. I am also co-moderator of the OUSA Archaeology conference so anyone who is taking an OU courses is invited to come on to First Class and talk to other OU students.
