I am hoping that I wil be able to participate in your dig this summer but am unsure as to what date I will be able to start. My wife and I will be in Italy for our 50th wedding anniversary for about three weeks and then instead of my coming home, I will stop off in York to attend the dig. I currently anticipate being there for two weeks but am unsure if I can start on just any monday morning. Does anyone have an answer to this question. Also, I sent an email to www.visityork.org and asked them for information about getting to York via rail from London. So far, nothing in reply. I've tried to find something on the net but to no avail. Here is another good one for someone who may be able to help me. Best regards, and have a marvelous day. Shimitaki (John Wick)

Hello Shimitaki You really need to book in advance to participate on the dig. There are several options available - digging as well as finds work, etc. You should find all information you need and booking forms on the St. Leonard's dig website ( www.yorkarchaeology.co.uk/yordig/index.htm ). There are regular trains from London King's Cross direct to York so travel arrangements should not be too much of a problem. You can find more details on times, fares and booking on the rail network website ( www.nationalrail.co.uk ) Hope this helps! Regards, Pam
