As the spaces with the accommodation we provide are nearly full I thought it would be worthwhile putting up information about alternatives. Could anybody who has positive comments (negative ones will be removed) about other places to stay in York please post them in this thread (ideally with a link). Below are the suggestions the I normally send to people when they enquire. ---------------------------------------------------------------- There is a wide range of hostels, university campus rooms, bed and breakfast establishments and hotels for your accommodation in York. They have a correspondingly wide range of prices; the cheapest, in a 2-4 bedded, shared, youth-hostel, is about £14 per night; single university rooms, about 1 mile from the town centre, are about £21 per night/£140 per 7 day week; and bed & breakfast/small hotels start at about £25.00 per person per night. For further information contact Roomcheck www.roomcheck.co.uk/yk on +44 (0)1904 621756, or York Tourism Bureau on +44 (0)1904 554455. Marmadukes closed in April for some reason. I've just checked their website and it appears that they will not be open this summer, or for the forseeable future. Sorry for the bad news folks.

I was chatting to Dave M. today and apparently Faifax House at the Uni are doing s aspecial where you can get 4 nights for the price of 3.
It may be that this could be used for a week... ie the nights of Tuesday-Friday?
