OK, I guess now you've mentioned it - Thanks ! ;D I had an interview today for the post of Volunteer Coordinator for Dig Hungate - some of you may have seen the job advertised - and ..... I got the job ! ;D I'll be taking on management of the taster trainees, volunteers and (non-Archaeology Live!) vocational placements as well as doing some outreach stuff and assisting the Community Archaeologist as and when. I'll be saying more about all this once I start in the post in late May. Is this the point where I do the "I'd like to thank..." speech ?? Toby has to be top of the list for all his advice / encouragement / support over the last 4 years.... There have been a number of other people along the way too - Kurt "are you sure you want to do this for a living? We do have to work in the rain and cold sometimes"Hunter-Mann, Harry, my cats, my long-suffering husband Dave (especially for 'allowing' me access to his online banking passwords when I was 'resting'), the man who invented Land Rovers, the people who invented bulldog clips and locking tape measures.... etc. 'Tis all good stuff.... ;D Seriously though I really do have Archaeology Live! to blame thank for getting me started in archaeology as a career. Archaeology Live ! is almost unique in that is provides an opportunity to be trained in single context recording on deep urban stratigraphy - a really useful skill / advantage on your CV when applying for your first digging jobs... As mentioned above, the people make a big difference for making the training challenging but fun, and also for the social side.
