Just to update people...
We first made sure that all the trenches were recorded (sections/plans/photo's) so that was all out the way.
The finds that were remaining have been washed and bagged (big thanks to Ness for work on this).
Later on last week we got the ok to fill things in again using the soil that came out the trenches. This was partly done by hand to make sure that we had a layer over the top of the archaeology - protection for the machine backfilling (thanks to everybody that helped with this).
Today we had a machine on site that filled the rest of the trenches. It was actually a really nice job doen by the driver so you can not tell that we were there.
We also passed the finds over to the finds dept. The two skulls that were in the gully backfill look likely to be both female (or a very one a very female looking bloke - no Ant jokes there please) so I was wrong on that one. Katie our Human bone person had some good information on them.
We will get the fencing and the cabin picked up in the next day or so - then i just have to make a start at writing it up.

I've caught myself sat at home with a curry and a beer, with two housemates who never even saw the dig, saying 'la-la-la, la-la-la' every now and again.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, WOMAN?!

Rick: That is a classic! ;D It's nice to see I have a little influence somewhere on the planet. Don't worry, it'll pass! Am missing my lunches and my juice breaks. Mel: Don't talk to me about that bloody comb, you!! No combs and no bloody 'v****g p*****y'! And watch, once I get to Shetland there'll be no bloody vikings there either It's a conspiracy! Someone is moving them. (Yes, yes, gone quite mad, but you knew that already. ) Ps. Sorry for the over use of ' ' and the word 'bloody' Pps. No, am not 'on anything' . ;D

So, Ness, does that mean you have packed in the cigs now or not ?? I'm not saying anything about the finds. I have had my own 'issues' regarding finds in the past and it is only recently I've been able to hear the phrase "Roman toilet set" without having to make an appointment to see my therapist.... ;D

Yep, packed in the cigs! (until next year, Paul! If you haven't managed to do it yourself as you sit by the blue pool, playing Mahjong. ) Don't get me wrong I love, with a passion, doing Finds work. Just about everybody on site found the dreaded 'v****g p*****y' or bone/antler work, and I have ever found anything of that period, - as Toby so kindly reminds me on a regular basis Need to stop now; too early for a rant. Started Uni, Pam! Bloody great stuff! x

Excellent, Mandy! I'm really looking forward to seeing you both. Still on for the 20th? Unfortunately Neal probably won't make it (babe due on 7th Dec) but Noel and Ged, and hoepfully lots more, will be there. Mayhem will ensue...
I don't move in to St John's St until the end of October, but am really looking forward to it. Lets hope the neighbours like the parrot ;D

Mandy - No, I'm not working at Dig anymore.
I only really know as much about the Sleepover as there is on the Dig website, so I don't think I'm able to advise whether or not you will make a fool of yourself ! It sounds like it should be fun, so go for it !
