The article has now been archived but the new link is www.thisisyork.co.uk/york/archive/2005/07/08/york_news_local26ZM.htmlThe current buildings have been used for the storage of artifacts and study materials but are very dilapidated and no longer up to modern standards. Some of the rooms still contain artefacts and natural history exhibits that formed part of a former 'schools collection'.

Thanks for updating the link, Pam. I've just returned from a couple of weeks away doing "The Grand Tour" of Hadrian's Wall, with a couple of days each at Bamburgh (thanks for recommending it) and Durham for good measure. Also stopped off at York on the way back to have a quick look at St Mary's, too. Purely a coincidence that it was BBQ night!

Hi Clive, You should have let me know you were 'passing' - I would have bought you a decent Yorkshire pint !! I haven't been to St M's since the end of week 2 as I've been doing a paid digging job (my first one) and been busy with other things (such as graduating from Uni). I intend to drop by some time this next week to check on progress and catch up on all the gossip ! Looking forward to seeing you later in the summer !
