The "St Nicks" weekend (27/28 Nov) seems like the best suggestion, certainly for shopping, with a get together to discuss St Leonards - and perhaps 2005! - on the Saturday afternoon.

OK folks, the plan for 27 November so far is to have a talk about the latest discoveries in the afternoon; 2pm should allow people from further afield to get to York in time. There will then be a get-together in the Black Swan, by 8pm. This will allow people to shop, eat, etc. The St Nicholas' Fair runs Thursday-Sunday, with late-night shopping, so there is plenty of scope for the more dedicated shoppers. It would help to get some idea of the number of people interested, so we know what to organise.
I'll confirm arrengements and venues nearer the time; we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!

Good morning:
I'ts been a while since I looked at what all of you are doing and your Christmas get-together sounds as if it will be a fantastic time. Wish I could be there. As for Mel having a time finding a B&B you might give 23 St. Marys a try. I stayed there last June and it is a very nice place. The owners are Chris and Julie Simpson and their phone number is 01904-622738. Whats more, its only about a 10 minute walk (for me) to Bootham Bar and/or the "Expedition" where I had several very nice dinners. If you are feeling flush, you might also want to go to 4 High Petergate for an excellent dinner. Their shank of lamb or the Yorkshire pheasant is excellent and the French duck liver pate' is the best I have ever had.
I'v been putting a scrap book together with all of the things I brought home with me and this job is bringing back some very nice memories. Being there in York on the St. Leonards dig is something I will never forget. I wish all of you a most happy holiday and super success with your future digs.

This is for Pam White: I found something that I will be sending to you but not knowing your home address, I'll send it to the YAT offices and I think Helen will give you a call when it arrives.

Hi John, Good to hear from you. You are sending me "something" - sounds intriguing ! I will let you know when I receive whatever it is but thank you in advance. Great idea to make a scrapbook of your visit to York, by the way. Its something I always think of doing when I visit somewhere or do something new. Somehow though I never quite get around to it and the bits and pieces get put in boxes or drawers somewhere and hardly ever see the light of day ! Best wishes Pam

Just to confirm the talk at 2pm at Cromwell House this Saturday; ring the front door bell. Coffee/tea and nibbles provided; don't forget to bring lots of testing questions for me and Toby. Drinks are from 8pm at Black Swan.
The St Nicholas Fayre includes carol singers etc. There is late night shopping this Thursday (25th) to 8pm (M&S 9pm). Open-air Yorkshire food and craft markets. Barley Hall has a medieval market with bar (!) on all four days. The ARC has a living historyand traders gifts display on the Sat and Sun. Also a craft fair at St Williams College. So you can really make a weekend of it!
