Well, the intake of 5-9th July will understand. At least it's better than "I_am_blonde" etc Sarah! Ged, that jigsaw has got to go. Typical that that Aussie "digger" Matthew should find the painted plaster!
Still, an excellent weeks experience and look forward to more, but no swings at 1a.m.

What trench did the painted plaster come from? And why did an aussie have to find it? Phill

G'day phil. Twas trench 5, going down below the Victorian stuff I believe. Matt's an ex-Oz living & working in London (married a Barnsley lass - probably for the passport - only joking Matt). We found a few crumbs of plaster in the sievings from trench 3 along with a flint scraper and a decorated, coppery, bronzish object appeared during digging. It was laugh a minute in D wing of Lindley House, what with Matt, Ged and Bubba, our American friend.

Spent two days moving that victorian back fill in trench five. But I'm not complaining I'll be back before the end of the season for another look ( I hope)

Well I quite agree Dave, Rolf is probably old enough to have painted it. We won't know till it's cleaned up though 'cos WE CAN'T SEE WHAT IT IS YET!

Hello ,Ged here If you diss my jigsaw ,you diss me- so I am going to be a little pedantic here and mention the fact that we spell that extremly gifted painter's name as Rolf Harris (not Rolph) here in the art history department of Heslington University. Although Matt found some painted Roman plaster ,I think that we also found many friends for life there. Indeed,I met my wife there last year-what she was doing there I'll never know, she was supposed to be at here mother's(The old ones are the best...as we old ones say). I hope to be back there on Friday and again for the last two weeks of the dig.Oh yes i recieved no financial benefit, commision or otherwise ,from the ghost hunt-should have done though, the guy ripped me off again. Calm down, its a commercial.Ged

Hey Ged chill a little. I'd forgotten you arty types were so sensitive. Next time i'm up there, i'll bring a new jigsaw. Just to be pedantic back, I was spelling his name ROLF and not too bothered whether your wife was at here or her mothers! But seriously, it was a great week and glad to have met everyone and looking forward to doing it again.

If you just look at the picture in question,I too wonder why I agreed to have it taken.I was young and he was very persuasive I suppose.I just love the funky purple gloves though. Well more fun when I go back later to York-does anyone else have similar happy memories of the place,or is it just me.Ged
