I hope everybody is well?
Personally I have not been on site for the past week or so (recording/drawing old stuff) but it all sounds pretty interesting.
Javi is back on site as his 'muckywomenfootitis' seems to have been banished.... using antibiotics.
The digging is done with just some recording to go.
Ben said that all the slopes in trench three led to a great big hole that had been cut very early in the sequence.
Maria got some really good traces of an early wall in trench 4.
I am not so sure about 6.
I had better go and read more stuff about saxon churches and their recording..

Thanks for the update, nice of you to let us know that "muckiewomenfootitis" is not fatal!! May I suggest that Javi wears rubber next time without the holes and so avoid the infection !!!!! See you in November Mel

I wanted to join Toby in saying thank you very much to everyone who took part in the St Leonard's dig over the past 4 years, particularly those I couldn't thank at the last barbeque. The people involved, staff and trainees, was the main reason it went so well.
It took the small excavation team a couple of weeks to finish the digging and recording (thanks to Pam and Bri as well). The site is now backfilled and re-seeded. After that we had the massive task of vacating both St Leonard's chapel and Lendal Hill House; this is still not quite finished.
Now I'm back in the office I'll make sure the remaining weeks of the web diary are finally posted up, including Weeks 13 and 14. There will then be updates over the winter as we make progress with the analysis of the records and we get reports on the finds.
