Right. First reunion of 2009, for some strange reason (Ness), always seems to coincide with the Jorvik Viking Festival.
This year the dates are:
Wednesday 18th - Sunday 22nd February
I couldn't find much other info on the net, except:
The JORVIK Viking Festival is a long-established (1985) festival in York, celebrating our Viking heritage. The Festival sees hundreds of Vikings descend on the city and demonstrate battle-drills and training routines. The city is also treated to a range of public events including lectures, arts & crafts, encampments, river events, saga-telling, and full-scale battle re-enactments.

There will be a whole new load of archaeology across the site to look at as we will have just cleaned up, or still be cleaning up, after a big machining session across H2. The team on site are doing a great job working through the post horticultural soil deposits across H2 and we will start machining towards the end of January. There will also be the opportunity for people to come and help out on site during the weekend as we will be having a, two day, open day like last year. We got something like 1200 people coming to see the site on the Saturday and Sunday last year so we will see if we can beat that this year. Get in touch via trainingdig@yorkat.co.uk if you are interested.
