Hello and Happy New Year! Much to my dismay the Viking Festival gets shorter every year, but don't get me started... Looks like it's one weekend again this year - 15th to 17th February. Can't deny that the events looks slightly better for this one, but as always you better get booking on the 'ol accommodation as there's only 6 weeks to go. As always, you'll find links to info for such on the Forum. Furthermore, take a look at the programme of events by following the links www.vikingjorvik.com/Any thoughts??

I am sure I could manage to get out that weekend... It will be a struggle, but sacrifices and all that.

The Viking festival weekend is also an Open Weekend at Hungate so there will be chance to see how the site has changed since the summer. If any previous Hungate trainees are coming to York for the re-union and would like to volunteer to spend some time on site during the weekend you would be welcome. We usually do cleaning rather than actual digging or recording on open days but it would still be a good opportunity to get those boots and trowels dirty again. The staff also talk to the public but for volunteers that is optional ! An idea of numbers would be helpful so we can ensure enough equipment is available etc. So if you would like to come and help out on site either Saturday or Sunday (or both) let us know by email to the usual address trainingdig@yorkarchaeology.co.ukPlease bring your own steel-toe boots (and trowel if you have one).

Yes, I think there will be a Viking festival reunion, hence Ness' message about booking accommodation.

Apologies for not making it clear! [glow=red,2,300] - VIKING FESTIVAL REUNION - Friday 15th to Sunday 17th February 2008.[/glow] Black Swan on Friday from 3.30pm until they throw us out. We'll make up the rest as we go along! However has anyone managed to look at all the Viking events taking place over those 3 days?? Any interest in going to any of the 'advanced booking' events?? Is anyone actually coming along??

Hi Ness. I'll be there for Sat (helping on site) with hopefully some pubbage in the evening. Cheers Chas PS. The link at the top of the page in your first post leads to a domain holding page and not to any Viking Festival info - sorry Easy enough to google though

Hello Ness,
If I can be guaranteed your excellent company then I shall be around on Saturday. Not out on Friday as we're having Valentine's Day a day late and I'm cooking.
Looking forward to seeing peeps who are around on Sat.

I'm not going to be able to make this one, I'm afraid. In London for a meeting, but enjoy.
